Do You Live in a Constant State of Amusement?

By Harris III | No Comments

TV-KidI still remember a newsletter published by one of my English teachers in High School for his students.  It was called, “The Muse.”  Really cool title…if only I would have appreciated it then as much as I appreciate that word now.

The definition of the word “muse” is: To think.

Add the letter “a”, creating “amuse,” and you get the opposite:  To not think.

So what does it really mean to be “amused“?

We have amusement parks, where you can go “not think” for a day, or two, or three.  Not so bad…unless…

Unless you live in what I like to call a “Constant State of Amusement.”

We live in a world filled with deception, constantly selling lies and misdirecting us from the stuff that really matters.  And we too often buy those lies, simply because we choose to turn off our minds and let the world do our thinking for us.   READ ALL

Book of Eli

In my last post, I told you how much I loved Inception, and how I believe that real “inception” actually happens every day.

There’s a scene in the movie where Denzel Washington’s character gets asked about the “old world”, which in case you haven’t seen the film, would be in reference to the current world that you and I live in today.  His response was simple, yet profound:   READ ALL

Inception

The film Inception? Incredible. Loved it! One of the best movies I’ve ever seen, and one of my favorites of all time. BUT…

What if I told you that “inception” actually happens? To you? Every. Single. Day.   READ ALL

What did America do with the Gospel?

By Harris III | 3 Comments

“The gospel came to the Greeks, and the Greeks turned it into a philosophy.
The gospel came to the Romans, and the Romans turned it into a system.
The gospel came to the Europeans, and they turned it into a culture.
The gospel came to the Americans, and they turned it into a business.”

- An Unnamed American Pastor, speaking at a European Conference

Thank you Stuart McAllister, and the team at RZIM for your podcasts.  They are challenging, thought-provoking, and needed.

Sometimes America is more of a market, than a nation. Hopefully, we can turn that around…

What if you honored her?

My generation has lost one of it’s privileges, but not because someone took it away. We simply fail to do it, and therefore miss out on the joy and pleasure that comes from giving it. What is it?

Illusions of Freedom

By Harris III | 7 Comments

I woke up this morning thinking about freedom. I’m not sure exactly what triggered it, but it isn’t a new topic of thought for me. Lately, I’ve been wondering and asking myself a lot, what does it mean to be truly free?

What is freedom anyway??

I know this for sure: A lot of people believe they live in freedom, when in reality, they’re in a straight-jacket. How do I know? Because it happens to everyone…including me.   READ ALL
